The Quarry’s recent update includes ‘80s throwback outfits for players with the extended edition of the game. For those who do not have the expanded edition, it is possible to buy the DLC separately or upgrade their edition of the game. Players who have access to the outfits first will be able to equip in the '80s glam.
The Quarry takes place in the modern day, but it is reminiscent of the popular ‘80s slasher and monster movies. The cast fits certain horror stereotypes, for example, there is a typical jock character and a sweet shy girl. The game is even set in the stereotypical campground where the camp counselors are struggling to survive. Even The Quarry's title is more sinister than players think.
The '80s outfits go with the slasher camp style that the game is trying to emulate. All nine playable characters have outfits that align with the character's personality while keeping with the '80s themes. Some of the characters are better than others, but the outfits are fun additions to the game.
Max's Dad Outfit is The Dadliest In The Quarry
Max’s outfit is bland compared to Laura’s and the other characters. He wears simple jeans and a baggy zip-up jacket that resembles a windbreaker. The released image makes him look more like a disappointed dad than a camp counselor, and Max’s stance and appearance match his stereotypical dad personality; he does get lost at the beginning of the game, and he is also quite absentminded at times. Of course, saving or killing Max in The Quarry is dependent on the players, not his outfit.
Camp Counselor Laura's '80s Block Print Shirt Is Rad
For Laura’s '80s outfit, she is still wearing her famous hat but also has on a button-up color block shirt and a pair of high-waisted pants. The color block shirt is brightly colored and is reminiscent of a tablecloth that covers a picnic table. It fits her camp counselor role.
Laura is one of the main characters of the game, so it does make sense that her shirt is so flashy and bright. And yet, it isn't flashy enough to make her stick out or give her character the appearance that she's too far over the top. The color-block shirt and her hat combo fit her personality and the role she plays in The Quarry, even aside from being representative of the era.
The Quarry's Nick Embraces His Jock Side With His '80s Outfit
Players can save or kill The Quarry's nine counselors, Nick included. His '80s outfit is another that lacks some flair when compared to some of the other characters. While the stereotypical jock archetype may not apply to Nick, he is described as having handsome athleticism and a nerdy shyness, and this one leans into his athletic qualities. When Nick is with Jacob, this jock attitude comes out, but with Abigail, players see the shy sweet side come into its own.
Kaitlyn's Final Girl Outfit Is Hip But Needs Detail
Kaitlyn’s '80s outfit for The Quarry is a simple white and pink collared shirt tucked into her jeans. She also has a beret in her hair and is wearing a gold earring. The bracelets are a nice touch that adds some nice detail, but her outfit is simple compared to the outfits given to other characters.
However, Kaitlyn’s simple '80s outfit does reflect The Quarry's final girl achievement that she unlocks. The final girl is, of course, the only person who survives a horror movie. She is (generally) not the most attractive of the cast and usually has no love interest. While Kaitlyn is interested in Ryan, she makes no move at the beginning of the game to be with him, which keeps her in that more chaste final girl role.
Ryan Stays Aloof In The Quarry With A Plaid '80s Vest
Ryan's '80s outfit in The Quarry consists of a dark-colored vest with cut-off sleeves. The dark colors and simple outfit does match Ryan’s aloof attitude that players see at the beginning of the game. However, the outfit does allow Ryan not to stand out among the group, he uses that to his advantage. Several times Ryan is the first to make a move and come to the rescue. The best example of this is completing The Quarry's Nick of time achievement. So really, the drab vest allows Ryan to blend in and take everyone by surprise.
Abigail's Rocker Fit Is Distinctly '80s Even Without Makeup
Abi is the quiet alternative girl that every player loves, so it makes sense that she has one of the better '80s outfits. Her default outfit in The Quarry has an alternative flair, with her dyed hair, moth shirt, shorts, and leggings combo. Her '80s outfit enhances her alternative style by going full-rocker girl with two-toned pants, double belts, a rock shirt, and an assortment of bracelets and necklaces.
While Abi’s outfit is one of the better ones on offer, it could still be better. She is missing any sort of makeup that a rocker girl might wear in the '80s, and while this does work given that Abi is a camp counselor (and makeup and camping do not mix), it's a little less fun as a result. Despite the little flaws, however, this outfit just might be lucky enough to make Abi survive The Quarry.
Everybody Had Dylan's The Quarry Two-Toned Shirt In The '80s
Dylan’s '80s outfit in The Quarry is as bright as his sarcasm. His pink and green two-toned collared shirt makes him look like the uppity character in a slasher film that no one likes. Even his pants which look like slacks instead of jeans make him look even more out of place, yet probably many men who grew up in the '80s once owned a shirt just like it.
Emma's '80s Outfit Is One Of The Quarry's Best
Emma’s '80s outfit is another winner in The Quarry. Featuring a green off-the-shoulder crop top with an E on the front, it screams a girl who knows she is hot and important. The matching green headband and that tousled hair bring the look together. Unlike other characters, Emma is wearing a little extra makeup that adds to her overall personality and style.
Jacob's The Quarry '80s Outfit Features Athletic Short-Shorts
Jacob’s '80s-inspired outfit is probably the best in the game, but it may not prevent him from being an infected character in The Quarry. His outfit consists of athletic shorts and a crop-top combo, with a hat and headphones around his neck. Jacob’s outfit is reminiscent of some older slasher movies where the male characters are the ones dressed more provocatively, a style that's both fashionable and nostalgic.
The outfit works especially well for Jacob because of his physical stature and his himbo attitude. Despite being a physically masculine character, Jacob does show stereotypical feminine qualities. During the majority of The Quarry, it is possible for him to be running around nearly naked, and there are moments that he falls into that "damsel in distress" category despite himself.
