Dead Cells are coming to PS Now, Sony's video game subscription service. PS Now offers hundreds of video games from the past three PlayStation consoles including impressive big-name titles, all available to play on PlayStation 4 or PC for a low monthly subscription fee. It was launched in 2014 and has seen fierce competition from services like the Xbox Game .
Subscription-based gaming services have been cropping up more frequently, following the success of video streaming platforms widespread disappointment, which has cast the industry of game streaming in a doubtful light.
This hasn't stopped Sony from pushing PS Now. Following a steep price drop last October, Sony has been steadily adding more and more quality games to the service. As announced on the recent announcement of Hitman 3, coming early next year, this is a good chance for people interested in the franchise to get up to speed.
The second game coming to PS Now is Greedfall, a well-received action RPG that sees players colonizing a mysterious and mystical island paradise. This game flew a bit under the radar when it released last year but it was reviewed favorably by several sources, including Screen Rant. Its appearance on PS Now should give players a new opportunity to experience this somewhat underplayed adventure. Finally there is Dead Cells, a roguelike action-platformer that released in 2018. Dead Cells received critical acclaim and is considered one of the best indie games of 2018. Its inclusion in the PS Now lineup shows good for indie titles and is sure to give many PS Now players a chance to explore this brutal classic.
This is a solid month for PS Now, offering three well-liked titles amongst a score of other, smaller games to round out the new lineup. While none of these titles will turn heads all by themselves, the idea of getting access to all three of them, along with the sizable library of titles already on the service, all for only $10 a month, is a pretty tempting proposition. Video game streaming is a new and very imperfect technology, and it still has a long way to go before it can be accepted to the mainstream. But PS Now is still a good service that puts a lot of quality games in players' hands, and for that reason alone, it's a very tempting offer.
