See AllHere Review: Tom Hanks & Robin Wright's Onscreen Reunion Is An Ugly, Disingenuous Disaster
Agree. It was just nice to sit and let the story flow. Nothing over-sensationalized, but just warm and relatable.
One take away seems to be not letting fear and worry keep us from enjoying life adventures... the family, where the father was flying airplanes and the wife was worried he would die in a crash turned out he ended up with a more mundane death due to the Influenza epidemic... That early 1900's era of Influenza epidemic played into the modern family's experience with COVID... and then, the fear of living and worry about losing loved ones from that early 1900's era family seemed to tie into Tom Hanks' character when he apologized to his wife toward the end of the movie for his inability to be more adventurous.
All any of us can do is enjoy the little moments available to us and seize the opportunities to live life to the fullest while we are "here" was a nice bit of morality to take away. I appreciated how it was illustrated through these various stories, no matter the era.
I think this critic is taking things too seriously in this review. I think the whole point of that scene where the guy took a few steps and then died on the living room floor was actually *intentionally* funny.
Also for any of us who watching Forrest Gump in the theaters, it was really nice to see these two main characters' actors (Hanks and Wright) reunited in this new story. Whereas, in Forrest Gump they weren't able to be together. This was a satisfying aspect. All of this was well done in my opinion.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out the context of what state this setting to place in... I enjoyed the movie.
