Sentry in The MCU Can Fix One of Marvel's Worst Retcons of All Time
From what the rumors are we maybe getting the Krakoa era X-Men which means Rogue should be Married to Gambit so there's no need to insert a Rogue and Sentry romance. It confuses me why you even want such a thing.
Sentry in The MCU Can Fix One of Marvel's Worst Retcons of All Time
First you keep claiming it was love. There is no indication that they were in love and that the relationship was just a physical one.
One of the issues with Rogue was her desperate need for physical that she would deeply attach/latch herself onto anyone that she could have physical with and even romanticize it to a high degree believing that they were her only option. It's what we're seeing in the current relaunch of the Savage land ark with Rogue as she came on to Magneto and Ka-Zar.
That's why in X-Man 97, Gambit described it best when he said "Love is more than just physical " to Rogue.
You're also leaving out the fact that this would paint Rogue as a woman who was having an affair with a married man because Bob was married when he became the Sentury. When Ka-Zar told Rogue he was married when she made a at him she completely stopped not willing to cross that line. So why did she with Bob? But I guess Marvel may have been trying to even it out since at that time Gambit was with X-FACTOR and he did sleep unknowingly with a married woman and to be fair we don't know if Rogue knew Sentry was married and it was finding out he had a wife is what ended the relationship.

How Bucky Barnes Ditched The Winter Soldier to Become Marvel’s 'Revolution' Instead
There are times when a name change can work and times when it really doesn't. The best way for it to work is a completely new look and style but truth be told as the revolution but his look, attitude and style isn't all that different. There also needs to be a sign of outgrowing the previous moniker like Nightwing was his coming into adulthood from childhood as Robin.
DC Is Sleeping on the 1 Nightwing Arc We All Want, And Marvel Already Proved It Will Work
Okay, so using Ultimate Spider-Man is not the best example in my opinion because Ultimate Spider-Man already had a family before he began the superhero life where Nightwing would be making a family after already being a superhero. Wally West Flash would be the better example.
One thing people seem to actually get wrong is that Nightwing did not have decades of back and forth between Starfire and Batgirl. They are just his two well most known relationships.
After the failed marriage between Dick and Kory they never fully went back to being an actual couple but in some ways were made to look more like friends with benefits. The last time they were together was in the Titans Academy comic and that upset the Nightwing writers/editors because they already laid the groundwork to reestablish the relationship between Dick and Barbara.
Nightwing dated/got in relationships with three other women at most. (Sean, Huntress and Bea). Dick and Sean even lived together and even had a pregnancy scare.
Starfire has not had any serious relationship since and I don't count New 52 Red Hood or Arsenal since that was just sleeping together and Rebirth kinda removed that.
Barbara has dated other guys. (Jason Bard, Batwing and the penguin son). In fact in Batgirl #50 which was its final issue, Barbara made a form of commitment to Bard about navigating the future together after blowing off Nightwing. Then Barbara appears in Nightwing #78, 2 issues after Batgirl #50, giving him the letter left by Alfred and being very flirty with Dick and it seems like what happened at the end of her comic really just didn't happen. No Ted Kord and Barbara did not date. They were just flirtatious and held an attraction but they never acted on it.
