See AllPatch 8 Should Make Baldur’s Gate 3 Better Than Ever, But I’m Glad I Played The Release Version
Amen to community modding as the secret to a game's longevity: Neverwinter Nights comes to mind as another D&D RPG that was playable for decades thanks to mods... but yes, I think BG3 may wind up more like Skyrim, with mods keeping it right up on par with (or better than) the latest games for many years to come. As for "listening to the fans", to be honest I wish they hadn't: the majority of fans are usually the game-wreckers with short attention spans who want everything made easier (respecs being the ultimate example of RPG destruction... "let's make the last 200 hours of play completely irrelevant by pretending they never happened and making things instantly as though you'd done things completely differently")... I often find that the early launches are the best for this reason (same thing with Diablo 2... an amazing, interesting game was reduced to a fairly pointless button mashing loot-collection exercise through patch after patch of making things easier for casual players). In any case BG3 is a great game that will be played for many years, mods or no mods.
