See AllGreta Gerwig's Narnia Remake Needs Radical Casting Thanks To One Of The Harshest Realities It Faces
She’ll make a big impression alright, but not the one she’ll be trying for.
For crying out loud, listen to the fans/your audience! We don’t want radical changes, we don’t want favorite characters ruined.
Streep is an excellent actress, but certainly not the correct choice for Aslan (who, as pointed out repeatedly, is purposefully A MALE LION).
I get that remakes are often made in the shadows of the originals and therefore need something to set them apart.
So use the desire to bring more of the books to the screen and stay faithful, and I guarantee you will have our interest. The fact that it will be all of the books alone sets this project apart. I love the originals dearly, but I certainly have room to appreciate and enjoy a new project. But if they screw it up before the gate even opens, they will lose so much interest and so many fans. And then they’ll be offended and questioning why things didn’t work out.
They could get someone well known, or, heaven forbid, they give someone unkown a try. What happened to taking risks on lesser known actors? A lot of success came from those risks.
