The essence of what made them resonate with readers has been forsaken in favor of shallow spectacle. For me, it's the indie scene and non-superhero comics that truly represent what's great about the industry. These works break free from the tired tropes, exploring the human condition and pushing the boundaries of storytelling. They remind us that comics can be a true art form, far beyond the limits of superhero fantasies.
