See AllOriginal Unedited Star Wars Showing For The First Time In Decades
Man, I wish I could be there to see it! I have never believed Lucas's claim that the originals couldn't be restored, and it was more that he, in a fit of stubborness, simply did not like the fact that most of the original fans hate his "updates" and so refuses to give us what we want.
I love the originals but I never again want to see Greedo shooting first, Han unconvincingly stepping over a non-existent Jabba's tail, or hearing Darth Vader's protracted "Noooo!". I have purchased the originals several times and regretted the updates every time. I have refused to buy them on Blu-ray, but I'll pony up the cash again if they ever release the original, unedited versions.
I don't mind if they clean up the prints and enhance the audio. I simply do not want the additional or altered footage.
I Still Can't Believe George Lucas Thought Revenge Of The Sith Would Be The Prequel Trilogy's Least Popular Movie
People's opinions will vary, but I think Episode 3 was the worst of all the movies, and that's despite how disappointed I was with E8.
It wasn't being "dark" that brought it down; it was the terrible directing, acting, plot, and excessive cheese that ruined it for me. I recently tried to rewatch after about a decade and stopped not even halfway through. I couldn't make myself suffer 2+ hours only to be rewarded with young Darth loudly mewling "Noooo!".
Lucas lost his artistic vision a long, long time ago. Disney has had its share of flubs with the franchise but nothing to match the low of the Revenge of George Lucas.
