It wouldn't really make sense for the two forms to be tied anyways. One transformation was always meant to be more primal whether in how the power was obtained, or by design, and the other was meant to represent the divinity of a mortal. The route to Super Saiyan 4 and Super Saiyan God are two completely different ones with completely different meanings or reasonings behind them.
