See AllSorry Naruto & One Piece, But The Best Shonen Anime Of The Mid 2000s Was A Massively Underrated Toonami Anime
Of the hundreds of manga I've read (according to mangaupdates, 568 finished and 214 ongoing--though dozens of those finished manga were series that were canceled in under a year), Konjiki no Gash is in my top 30 all time, but it really doesn't compare to One Piece (top 1) or even Naruto (top 10). If the anime is comparable, that's mostly because of all the bad filler in Naruto and One Piece's adaptations, my understanding is that Konjiki no Gash had better filler than either.
But hey, I'm really enjoying the sequel series. It's been 15 years and somehow the humor is still fresh. Riddles joking about his own death and Kiyomaru getting pissed about it is so funny
Edit: yeah in case you can't tell I really don't care about anime adaptations lol, I only watch original anime, adaptations are almost always disappointing compared to the source material.

Why would he mention DBZ in an article about mid 2000s anime? DBZ finished in the 90s. The early 90s, in Japan.
