See All"I'm Not Doing That Again": Alex Garland Details Ghost Directing For $41M Sci-Fi Action Movie 13 Years Later
Truly great film. I read Dredd in 2000AD comic as a child during the 80s. The Stallone version was chronic. It totally missed the point. "Dredd" captured the mood and character of every character (Mega-City One included!) perfectly. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch at a cinema but I have the bluray tucked away, pride of place. Warranted a sequel. I don't like the majority of comic adaptations but this one I rate as perfect

In respect to Time Bandits he deserves all the criticism he receives. When you take a fifty year old's childhood favourite and rip out the major component, the heart and soul of the piece, presumably arguing that doing so prevents possible accusations of discrimination against dwarfism, then you get what you deserve. I have watched the original Time Bandits film a hundred times, and I could watch it now with pleasure. The line, "Vermin! Stop Eating!!!" comes to mind. It's joyful. And importantly it gives a platform not only to children but to people with dwarfism. By removing the former's platform it suggests to me, what? Embarrassment? Fear? That there would be some backlash if dwarfs were included in a comedy adventure in 2024. When there is no descrimination in the Time Bandits, in a child's universe. The original catapults you back to when you were a child, full of wonder and innocence. The remake, and it's editorial decisions, makes me think the complete opposite.
