I never even thought of Jamie and Eddie's marriage as a "replacement" for Danny and Linda's in the story line. It was just an evolution in the program, and certainly one for the better. Linda's departure was a huge relief from her constantly unreasonable complaining. And the episodes that focused on Linda and Danny's conflict were the worst in an otherwise excellent program, not the best as stated in the article.
