See AllWhat did you think of The Bikeriders?
As I explain in my review, even though I liked the movie, I came away with some mixed feelings. I think the first few minutes are really great, but as focus shifted from exploring this subculture to the conflicts between these specific characters, my engagement waned. What was your experience with The Bikeriders like? Does your opinion also fall somewhere in the middle, or did you have a stronger reaction, whether pro or con?
What makes a movie worth going to the theater for?
This is always the multi-million-dollar question on the mind of every film exec, but right now seems to be an interesting time to ask it. I love going to the movies and try to make it at least once a week, but I do want it to be worth my time. I put more weight on directors than stars, except in franchise roles, where an interesting cast can really make the difference. I definitely pay attention to reviews and have a few key critics I trust to steer me right. I often ask myself if I'll regret having missed something on the big screen. What actually moves the needle for you?

See AllThe Electric State Review: I Think The Russos’ New Netflix Blockbuster Might Actually Be Harmful To Movies
A good point of comparison. There are critics who feel similarly about Ready Player One — I’ve seen it mentioned in other reviews in a “why would you copy one of the lesser Spielberg movies?” way — but I think it’s a much better film than this.
Its worldbuilding is much more cohesive and focused, it has a sustained thematic interest in pop-cultural obsession, and it was made with much more visual ambition. The Electric State doesn’t even attempt anything as dynamic as the Overlook Hotel sequence, for example.
