Right because no one wants to it that there is still some toxic masculinity even now in the United States(certainly not every man but there are some). Nor do they want to it that there's still some men that don't understand what consent means. You don't solve problems by not talking or doing anything about them.

As for changing a story that's extremely popular that's stupid why risk ruining the whole thing? I seldom watch thrillers because they can make me too anxious but if you change that aspect to it's no longer a thriller and you alienate people that enjoy them. It's also kind of like how so many movies are classified as comedies because that's the most popular genre but a lot of those listed as comedies aren't so now if the description doesn't sound funny I won't watch it.

I would hope they follow the book and don't screw it up by changing it.
