Do you need to know, like, nothing at all in order to do this job? The Fall was absolutely consistent throughout. It starts off weird and surreal and continues that way throughout, always maintaining a controlled level of chaos.

The expression "off the rails" means that, narratively, a film or story totally lost its sense of purpose and went completely out of control.

It's hilarious that you'd even consider putting that expression and The Fall together; to which I can only surmise that you either haven't watched it or you just didn't understand what you were watching 😉
