Well if you didn't like rebirth or remake you would have hated the original as there was none of the extra story content just run around the map fighting random battles to level up or spending hours breeding and racing chocobo just to be able to get a matria honestly the add open world stuff in rebirth had a lot of interesting side content and lore to it but that is more for fans of the game then someone who just is getting into jrpgs all older gamed like that where just wondering around to level up so you could fly through the battles and progress the story og 7 has a god mode to play if you want to just run through the story which would probably help you fall in love with the characters and story
