Persephone is the Greek explanation of seasons. Demeter is so distraught about her daughter being in the underworld that she stops allowing plants, especially crops, to grow. The compromise is that Persephone spends half the year on Earth (spring/summer) and Demeter allows plants to thrive. The other half of the year (autumn/winter) Persephone is in the underworld and nothing grows. As such, finding Persephone in the underworld in June isn't going to happen.
