I really don’t think that would work. Both teams would end up being short-changed. They should get their own opportunities to shine. That said, I would be 100% sold on a crossover scene! Or companion movies with that component, like the Law and Order crossovers. I love all these characters and miss the old USA shows!

Al least they acknowledge he exists. Poor Andy! Jerry was stated to be working on a fishing boat in the reboot pilot, but then he too was retconned away. I didn’t have a huge problem with that because he was never really fleshed out in the original, but Jackie being a single mother was important to her character.

You know, I don’t think they really are escapism. Sure, they are whimsical and fantastical, but they are rooted in deep and wonderfully explored ideas about home, family, how we treat others, and especially how we treat others who are different. As he says “look for the best in people and you’ll find it.” That stuck with me, because lately I haven’t had the energy to look for the best. I think your take is perfectly fair and valid, I just found Paddington a little deeper than he appears, silly antics not withstanding.
