While I understand your stance on the aspect, I have to really disagree with this take. While the courses are longer and wider than ever, progression is still very much taken into with MKW. And it doesn't make it less content-filled. It's just elevating a formula to new heights. Plus, turning the series into Nintendo Kart would not only dilute this franchise, but Super Smash Bros as well because it would essentially make the latter less unique.
