I never saw a romance in Rogue One. I only saw two people who shared a mission, for initially different reasons, who had a simple embrace just after completing that mission and just before their ultimate sacrifice.

The Bix and the Jyn relationships were distinctly different and one does not diminish the other.

The way Gilroy pieces the two stories together was masterful and the result is greater than what we would normally expect from Hollywood.
