See AllMarvel Is Removing Thor from Its Continuity, And I Know What's Next For the God of Thunder
Fair point. Although Marvel HAVE tinkered with Christianity and Judaism as well with certain characters and concepts (Gilgamesh, Hellstrom, Ghost Rider, The Golem). These superhero comics companies are acquisitive, appropriative, endlessly resource - hungry content factories. Literally, NOTHING'S sacred. They'll ponce off every property from The Bible to Bond, and everything in between.
Although I've often wondered what ACTUAL Scandinavians think/make of a greedy U.S. corporate entity constantly recycling/monetising/distorting the Prose Edda and attendant Norse cultural property. As a Briton, I've been less than enthralled with Marvel's mutilation of Arthurian/Brythonic mythos in recent years.
We Need To Talk About How Good Doctor Who Season 15 Is
Which reinforces the OP's point, surely? It's not rare, it's quite frequent.
I'd add McGann to that list, particularly when you consider the limited screentime he got to prove himself on the TVM. John Hurt arguably "got it" immediately as well, in unusual circumstances and a strictured schedule to boot. There's a reason the guy was given a knighthood.
Doctor Who Just Referenced A Friendly Alien Race From The Third Doctor's Era, Now They Must Return Properly
"They", rather than "she"; the Doctor specifically quantifies Alpha as a "hermaphrodite hexapod".
I guess the term may be considered "problematic" nowadays, but back in the 1970s "hermaphrodite" was the polite, formal way to refer to an individual who I guess would be termed as "intersex" by present day phraseology.
Doctor Who Just Referenced A Friendly Alien Race From The Third Doctor's Era, Now They Must Return Properly
Most of the aliens in the Peladon stories were ambassadors from various galactic cultures, and were referred to by their systems of origin as a kind of shorthand etiquette. There was also an "Arcturus" character so called for the same reason.
Doctor Who Confirms Two Of Unholy Trinity & RTD Teases Third "160 Years Away"
Once again Davies breaks not only the series's internal canon but also the rules of coherent storytelling. If the two incarnations of the Rani only count for ONE character, then does this mean that both the tenth and twentieth anniversary specials should now be retroactively renamed "The One Doctor"? Or simply "The Doctor"?
Davies' "I said so, so there" rationale is a perfect encapsulation of how and why the series has plummeted to an all - time low in of creativity and popularity due to his egomaniacal entitlement. Contrary to what he appears to have convinced himself and others in the British media establishment, he didn't create Doctor Who. But he might well be the man who's ed as destroying it.
Doctor Who Season 15 Continues The Running Joke That Started During William Hartnell's First Doctor Era
Isn't he supposedly "engaged" to that Captain Jack knock-off Rogue?
