I've suspected for a while that the supervisor is simply another droid or computer that, cut off from the rest of the republic, simply doesn't know about the rise and fall of the empire and is simply keeping the planet ticking along until someone from the republic comes along. The announcement from the supervisor in ep7 just made me more confident in that. It just sounded emotionless and droid-like.

I also don't think Jod is as proficient as the article suggests. When he first uses the lightsaber it is a pretty quick clean swipe at SM33 (he's a hard target to miss), but after that, when he's using it to threaten the children, he's switching it around like a wet fish. It doesn't look like he's doing it with much finesse, purpose or control. I have doubts about him being able to use it in an actual fight.
