A book well worth reading is The Expendables, The Rings of Tantalus, by Richard Avery. A great book, which would make an excellent movie. There's four books in the series, all of which would make great movies. There could also be a back story / origin movie about all of the characters and how they got to be in their positions.

The story is about a group of criminals and social outcasts who are sent into deep space to investigate explanations for possible human habitation. To save humanity from a ravaged planet Earth. There's mutiny, robots,a defending army of monkey like creatures with prehensile tails. Oh and some sexualy assaulting vampire trees . Interested? Hunt out the book, you won't be disappointed.
