See AllWarner Bros' New Lord Of The Rings Movie Is A Fantastic Advert For Prime Video's The Rings Of Power
Reading some of the other comments, I do get the impression that some of them are written by our friends across the water in America (not just the substance of what they have written, but also the lack of good English written language). Not really understanding that the material used in rings of power etc, that are unfinished/ minimal or scant source detail from Tolkien.
And the original material from Silmarillion is very inaccessible/ complicated for many people (hence the reason the book is often bought, but not often actually read).
So these new adaptations from the scant source material make the wider story more accessible for many people. So in that respect it can only be a good thing. And it may even lead to people actually reading their copies of the silmarillion.
I think, and I say this as a Tolkien fan myself, that the die hard Tolkien fans who have commented on this story should perhaps wind their necks in a bit and get their heads from out their derrières. It is good to accept these adaptations as an accessable pointer for the not-so-die-hard fans to explore the other books and appendices that thay may have found too overwhelming thus far.
Surely that can only be a good thing, and I'm sure, in fact quite sure that Tolkien would have approved of anything that encouraged people to dive deeper into his lesser known works.
