It's one of my favourite movies honestly and I'm very critical about these things (my other favourite movies include Whiplash, No Country For Old Men, Misery , The Shining, Corpse Bride...) . It's not as creepy as the original (which is not a very good thing) but it is extremely funny and relatable in some sort of way. The characters are really heart warming at some points and I like that the main focus is shifting between Charlie and Willy Wonka's contrasting life styles and beliefs. But honestly, no matter how much I love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton, I have to it that the characters fall flat at certain points. It's definitely a movie for a "fun watch", not award winning or anything. It could be considered for me a comfort movie which is why I like it so much. It reminds me of some very good times.
