The main issue people have is not that there is newer material being written. It is that the material being written is poorly done. Writers are not building characters consistent with those of the books and to a lesser degree, the original movies. I personally don't consider a comparison to the movies as important as the movies are not perfectly following the books either. I do believe the original trilogy movies are better at staying more true to how the characters were written in the books than the new material. I have not seen the anime movie though so am only speaking to the first season of ROP which I watched and then the first 4 episodes of season 2. I did not finish the season due to lack of interest. Also, insulting the intelligence of someone who does not agree with you isn't a valid argument just to be clear.
