Zemeckis was known and it would have been a snub for him not to win one. Pulp Fiction is great, but like most Tarantino films overrated because they can be over the top and have tone shifts. I love his films but they are not without flaws. Shawshank was understated (so easy to fly under the radar, almost opposite a Tarantino film) but amazing. Really any one of them could have won and to state with authority one of them should easily have won shows it's just opinion.
