It is kind of wild to see people acting like Nintendo just started becoming anti-consumer two weeks ago. They've been wildly overcharging for remasters for decades. The days of the pack-in Zelda compilation on Gamecube are long gone.
I don't know that I'd argue it's worth $70, but playing BOTW at what will hopefully be a steady 60fps should be transformative over the frequent dips below 30fps on the Switch.
Apparently, Nintendo is saying that the Switch 2 edition cartridge does contain the upgrade as well as the base Switch edition. I won't be surprised if that's a lie and it's just a key that automatically s the upgrade without entering any kind of code in the eShop, but it could mean that all the files needed to play the upgraded version are on the cartridge itself-- that's definitely what Nintendo wants people to think, whether it's ultimately true or not.

Both companies understand their fans extremely well. The most devoted fans of both companies (all three, though Microsoft's sales numbers show they didn't get away with it as long) will suck down whatever slop is served at the end of the branded shovel and thank them for it.
It's all anti-consumer as hell, but as long as the numbers stay up, it can't be said that it's not what their fans want.
