Yes! The shelter is one of my absolute favorites! An important subtext is that our inherent racism is dormant only when things are going well, but as soon as there's a crisis there's not just the nuclear family but the "tribe" family that demands our loyalty and suddenly every "other" needs to get out of "our" way.
