Both Aragorn actor Viggo Mortensen and Gandalf actor Ian McKellen have now expressed an openness to reprise their roles for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, but maybe it's for the best if they don't. It’s been more than 20 years since they first played their characters, meaning they won’t look the same without some form of digital de-aging. Plus, Peter Jackson’s trilogy remains beloved, which has already set the bar for The Hunt for Gollum incredibly high.
