I hope Greta Gerwig understands the Chronicles better than this article. I just finished reading all 7 books to my 6yo. Susan stopped believing so she was not ready to return to Narnia. 'No one is ever told any story but their own,' Aslan has said in one way or another in several books. Lewis did not gloss over Susan's tragedy, the Shadowlands are left behind and her story is not told. Lewis also wrote to a fan that Susan's story dealt with adult themes concerning faith and loss which he felt he could not yet write. He invited the fan to do so. Once a King or Queen of Narnia, always a King or Queen of Narnia. The Easter egg Lewis leaves us - once you have known Jesus you will always know him and he will call you back. Susan's fate is a very complex and subtle one. I hope Gerwig does Lewis's writing justice.
