They've consistently shown Tim' emotional growth throughout the season by his interactions with not just Lucy but other characters as well including his boot. It doesn't have to be shown through therapy only. But I agree Tim and Lucy need to have the big talk more so for Lucy at this point as she still clearly has negative feelings about the break up.
