Excuse me, Cheers was a great show; you're not making your case very well by being dismissive of one of the true gems of broadcast-television history.

And while I don't personally have the same connection to The Golden Girls as I do Cheers, there is a reason that it still has millions of die-hard fans today.

But why wasn't she pushing to have them replaced? Is it because of Captain Sandy's exasperating refusal to fire people for incompetence/behavioral issues? (Unless they call her Sandy without the "Captain," that is.)

I would make a sharp distinction between shortening a scene through editing, which is common even in legit documentaries, and frankenbiting, i.e. distorting what was actually said by people to create a false narrative.
