All 5 Andor Characters I Want to See Again (& Where They Could Appear Next)
No wrong choices here, but it feels wrong to not expand to six just to include Dedra. She is definitely still full of potential, and I'd love to see her meet characters like Elia Kane or rise in the ranks of Thrawn's Imperial force or go on to found what will become the First Order. She got burned by the Empire but I have a feeling she will turn out angrier and more ruthless rather than repentant.
Andor Showrunner Hints At A Massive Change To Star Wars Canon (& It Makes Sense)
I don't approve of dismissing Rebels as "lower" canon, and I'd take every last word of Rebels' contribution to canon over the live action sequels any day.
If You Loved Andor, You Don't Want To Miss These 7 Rogue One Tie-Ins & Spinoffs
Jeez, even in here still no one gave more time to Bhodi Rook, whose defection was so essential to the plot of Rogue One? He formed a friendship with Galen Erso that was so strong that he died for it. I loved everything we got from Andor, but showing how one Imperial could turn on the Empire like that amid so many others who just went along with their horrors would've been satisfying--just that stuff didn't line up with Andor until Rogue One so I guess there was no place for it even if the show had run for five seasons.
Game Of Thrones' Red Wedding Changed Robb Stark's Last Words & Avoided A Book Theory That Made His Death Worse
Doesn't seem like Robb warging and dying again adds anything, nor do the Stark kids all being able to warg seem to matter either. I know the show is generally agreed to be inferior to the books, but some of the show's changes seem to be because Martin himself did not yet have it all worked out--and I'd guess that to this day he's still working on making it into a tighter narrative, hence the ongoing delays and his emphasizing how hard its been. He clearly didn't have everything planned out (or it grew outside of his original plans) and now suffers as he tries to live up to his own reputation.
Star Wars' Best TV Show Is Over, And It May Never Be Topped, So Where Does The Franchise Go From Here?
Hmmm, well this way of thinking worked for them with Andor, but let's be fair that writers can and do approach things differently and fans respond differently too. I feel shows like Ahsoka and Acolyte were more about bringing characters from animation or other media into live action than about inventing as many new ones as Andor did--but that is valid too, it's not a wrong approach to be resisted out of hand. It's still adding toys to the toybox, at least adding some that previously weren't compatible with the rest. There will always be fans who don't like whatever you do either, whether you hoped to please them or not. But then I also disagree fans shouldn't write this stuff either, so I'm willing to agree to disagree--but I'm glad they made shows and that I liked it either way. I'd like to know what the other pitch was that was "worse" too, was that the Andor and K2 have space adventures? Because I honestly think that is a show that would be fun to watch too and that *could* still be done though it will inevitably be compared unfavorably to Andor for being more light weight.
Kirk’s Best Friend In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Isn’t Spock, It’s An Original Series Villain
Sebastian Stan was my choice to play Mitchell back in 2009 when the JJ movie came out, but then they lazily used Khan instead. I also would've loved brining back TOS Klingons with Richard Armitage as Koloth, David Batista as Kor, and Wes Studi as Kang. Tthey could still do that on SNW, though I don't think they can get all those actors. I also doubt they want to bring in many characters they cannot unalive as they've made it clear they hate having to conform to canon (but won't STOP making prequels).
28 Years Later Looks Great, But It's Time the World Realized 28 Days Later Got a Sequel We All Missed
I'm not watching anything until they make "28 MONTHS Later" and set the universe back on track to normal again, thank you.
Andor Season 2's Best Episodes Just Made 5 Retcons To An 8-Year-Old Star Wars Story
Much as I'm loving Andor, the confusion over the Dantooine vs Yavin bases and also about Bail having a spy in his organization (who presumably did not know their destination was Yavin or otherwise it's a huge plot hole for the overall continuity) were frustrating and seemed unnecessary, as if the Andor writers had a lot more in mind that they'd had to cut and then didn't get back to fully erasing to avoid confusion. It almost feels like Andor's writers forgot about Dantooine or at least that Rebels established it was operational at this point in the timeline. Insisting on painting the rest of the story as seen in Rebels as spin doctoring by the Rebel leaders (which ones IDK, we sadly aren't getting to know the other leaders in Andor as I hoped we might) was kind of a forced bit of cynicism IMO, but it suits the show's characters if they think that way.
Star Wars' Best TV Show Is Almost Over: Here Are 10 Bold Predictions For Andor Season 2's Final Episodes
A show with Andor and K2 So is still viable I think. I def thought that’s what the show Andor would be (and don’t mind that it’s not). With all the time jumps, an animated show depicting their adventures is still possible now and would be fun to watch—although I think it would be a step down from the non-fan-servicey tone of Andor (still a step worth taking IMO). Also the writers pointed out that writing K2 was hard because he’s not a subtle presence AND he costs money to render—less of an issue in animation, but for sure a more light-hearted adventure series would be tricky. I do not think it has to be a dead end anymore than Bad Batch was though—or Andor has been if it’s about introducing us to lots of plots/characters that will outlive the leads. I also kind of hope Dedra survives to return in other shows, would LOVE to see her in Thrawn's organization and helping to build the First Order. If Bix survives the show, she can get her later!
Star Wars Breaks The Rules Of The Empire With One Major Imperial Death
In the end Syril was another victim of the Empire, a cog they exploited and and would have inevitably discarded (arguably Carro double down on his wrongness by taking Syril out for them, blaming Syril because it was the only thing he could really do anymore). Kyle Soller doesn't think Syril would've ed the rebels, but I think what the character would do and what might he might have been led to do from that point on are different things. It was indeed a sad what if because Syril was lowering his weapon. He died pondering the big question: Who am I, which everyone loses sight of as they focus on how it was a "Ha-ha" insult by the universe on Syril. The guy's tragedy is he came too late to that question and then the answer was "I'm dead."
"We Are Hijacking Canon": Andor Showrunner & Mon Mothma Actor Explain A Major Star Wars Retcon
Rebels already said she gave more than one speech though, why are the Andor writers getting credit for saying there were two speeches when that was always the case? The one she gave to the Senate got less focus on Rebels, but it's the whole enchilada on Andor. Just how different did the Andor writers want it to be if they didn't have to agree with Rebels? I was surprised there was no worry about her family after so much time spent with them--I feel that was a casualty of having to time-jump through so much of season 2.
Andor Season 2, Episodes 7-9 Review: I Thought Andor Couldn't Get Any Better - I Was Incredibly Wrong
I haven't finished episode 8 yet, but I did recently rewatch the Mon Mothma episode of Rebels, so it was seeming clear already that this "year" on Andor was building up to her speech on the Senate floor where she finally calls Palpatine a genocidal "monster." We saw the Ghost crew watch just a little of a recording from that speech, but the full weight of it was not depicted so I'm eager to see Andor do that (but sorry we won't get to see Cassian with the Ghost crew at all and still no sign of K-2SO, who I really thought would show up more than just a year before Rogue One). I'm glad that "Rebels" is clearly ed with characters like her aide Erskine appearing in both shows. I'm a little curious if the fleet that responded to her on Rebels is not the very force Cassian is gathering on Yavin or if they're actually new recruits to the rebellion. For sure I was surprised she officially resigned from the Senate on Rebels, but I guess she doesn't have to say the words on a show like Andor. Calling the Emperor a monster will be resignation enough.
What Happened To Spock’s 2 Star Trek Proteges?
True, particularly when she invoked David's memory to justify hating Klingons, but I'd have hated Saavik betraying the crew for any reason and that is the ultimate reason I am glad Roddenberry won that fight. I think Valeris was the best of both worlds, she benefited from good will for resembling Saavik, but then she was free to fail in a way that would have been too hurtful and distracting for Saavik. I did not want the last time we saw Saavik to be in handcuffs as a disgraced prisoner. As bad as the abandonment has been, the movie and the franchise is better for not doing that to Saavik (or her fans).
10 Harsh Realities Of Rewatching The Rings Of Power Season 1 More Than 2 Years Later
I can't believe I'm defending this show, but it gave a *very* clear reason for the elves making three rings. One is corruptible, and two would be in conflict, always at a stalemate, but three forces balance and compromise. That's not vague. Unsatisfying, maybe, but it was clear why they chose to make three. IDK about the commercial motivation on Galadriel, but IMO none of the elves make good POV characters because they're too otherworldly. As you say, Elrond doesn't feel as old as he has to be. The elves felt like Star Trek cosplayers. Jackson got it right, the Elves are otherworldly and should be seen through the eyes of characters like Hobbits. Even when we focused just on Elrond with Arwen, there was a particular gravitas that the show did not match.
8 Fantasy Movies From The 1980s That You Probably Haven't Seen
Hearts and Armor or Wizards of the Lost Kingdom. Awful movies but I them.
Luke Skywalker Wasn't The Only Jedi Working With The Rebels In The Original Trilogy
Jordan, you are mising. Not only did Ezra save her during Rebels Season 4, which happens before ANH, but at the end of that encounter Ahoska returned to moments after her fight with Vader in season 2, so her whereabouts for the last two seasons of Rebels (during which she had foreknowledge of Canan's fate) and all of the OT is very much unexplained yet. Ahsoka turned up again in the Rebels epilogue which was set after RotJ, and that was a big deal becuase never before had it been confirmed she was alive then, but there's a lot of her story yet to be told. I honestly think they're waiting until the de-aging/defake tech improves enough or they are willing to commit to recasting "young" Luke so they can bridge all of these new canonical characters to Luke from the OT. A side-quel about Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hera during the Battle of Endor feels like a natural.
34 Years Later, Star Trek's Most Disappointing TNG Character Exit Still Hurts
Agreed but I think they feared he wasn't relatable as an Einstein/Mozart genius. The original ideas often couldn't hold up as they tried to make characters accessible and also entertaining. For example, Troi was supposed to be the intellectual equal of Spock when they started (Sirtis said so herself in conventions, before acknowledging that always and understandably stuns fans).
David Corenswet May Be The New Superman, But He'd Be Perfect For These 6 Star Wars Characters
Darth Revan has got to be the most popular to invoke SW character not in either a movie or TV show. Good grief, he comes up a lot. Is it because visually he's Darth Maul and Boba Fett combined? Aside from him belonging to a pre-prequel era, Lucasfilm is leaving money on the table not using him or Mara Jade (although I think it's very likely that if they ever did use them, they'll somehow botch both of them).
8 Ways Disney's Live-Action Snow White Is Worse Than The 1937 Original
It's a nice movie, but I feel 3-1 completely. That said, in the original fairy tale, the queen did not die as the hag. She was forced wear red hot iron shoes and dance until she died. The Disney version added the irony of her being the architect of her own undoing/dying as the hag while trying to get away. This remake would've been better had it been told from the queen's perspective like Salieri in Amadeus, not making her misunderstood like the Maleficent movie or Wicked, but just letting her be her spiteful self telling the tale with us seeing her evil ourselves. That may not seem like a kid's movie, but neither was this ever a story about governors' obligations to the governed as this movie was, that whole track felt like leftover focus group hash from Wish, the execs at Disney trying to message "we appreciate you" to their employees (without really meaning it). I think someone read Politically Correct Bedtime Stories and didn't get the joke.
20 Years After Revenge Of The Sith, I Can't Believe I'm Just Finding Out What Palpatine's Lightsaber Color Was Supposed To Be
Oddly enough, had they kept him using Anakin's lightsaber, it would've helped validate that saber having a connection to Rey, Palpatine's granddaughter, in the sequel trilogy (or at least made all of that feel less contrived).
