During the month of October, Amazon Prime Gaming is offering the critically acclaimed DOOM Eternal for subscribers to claim for free, along with a number of other notable games. Originally released in 2020, Doom Eternal is the second game in the soft reboot of the DOOM franchise that started with DOOM (2016), developed by id Software. At the time of writing, DOOM Eternal is the latest game in the franchise, but an prequel game, the medieval-themed DOOM: The Dark Ages, is set for release at an unspecified date in 2025.

As of October 11, Amazon Prime can claim DOOM Eternal for free on Prime Gaming, along with several other games. Notably, the game is not becoming part of the Amazon Luna cloud gaming service, which functions similarly to Xbox Game , but can instead be claimed and permanently added to a 's Prime Gaming library during October. Unfortunately, however, the offer isn't permanent, as after November 13, DOOM Eternal will no longer be free on Prime Gaming.

While Prime Gaming offers plenty of prestigious titles across its free offerings and cloud gaming service, DOOM Eternal is one of the most notable games currently on the platform, being one of 2020's most critically acclaimed releases and the first sequel to the immensely popular DOOM (2016). Redeeming the game from Prime Gaming will give a code that can be redeemed on the PC Microsoft Store, allowing them to claim DOOM Eternal on that platform for free.

Notably, however, the free games for October, including DOOM Eternal, are only available to Amazon Prime , and once the code is claimed, it must be redeemed before it expires on December 13, 2024. Fortunately, once the code has been claimed and redeemed, will be able to keep their copy of DOOM Eternal on the Microsoft Store regardless of their future Prime hip status.

Google Stadia is offering refunds for both games and hardware.

Along with DOOM Eternal, there are 28 other games free for Prime in October, including games from prestigious franchises like BioShock Remastered and Tomb Raider: Legend, along with several notable indie titles like Death's Door and Scorn. While DOOM Eternal and BioShock Remastered are currently available to claim, however, some titles, like Scorn, will become available to claim weekly throughout the rest of the month.

While at this point, many DOOM fans have likely already bought and played Eternal, the Prime Gaming offering for October is a good chance for anyone on the fence to try the game out for free. It, along with 28 other games, will be made free for a limited time throughout October in the form of codes that can be redeemed on specific platforms like the Microsoft Store, the Amazon Games App, GOG, and the Epic Games Store.
