The Power Rangers timeline and needed to be retconned into alternate continuities.
It was only in 2016 that Power Rangers fully embraced the multiverse, this time in the comic books. BOOM! Studios’ Power Rangers comics have been one of the most exciting things about the franchise for almost a decade now, and they started with an ambitious storyline told across two different books that eventually converged into one epic crossover involving countless characters and universes. With Power Rangers reportedly getting a reboot on Disney+, there is no better time to bring Shattered Grid to live-action.
Disney+’s Power Rangers Reboot Is The Perfect Chance For A Shattered Grid Adaptation
Power Rangers' Multiverse-Ending Event Deserves A Live-Action Adaptation
Shattered Grid is one of the coolest things to come out of the Power Rangers franchise. Not only does the story have a lot of fun with all the different Power Rangers teams and locations, but it also shows how much potential this universe has. While Power Rangers will always be associated with Mighty Morphin, the show went on for 30 years and introduced a bunch of different teams and powers. In hindsight, different Power Rangers eras coming together with the help of the multiverse and time travel should have been a no-brainer.
The late Jason David Frank played Lord Drakkon in a live-action trailer for Shattered Grid in 2018.
Shattered Grid was more than just fanservice, with the question of what makes Tommy Oliver a hero setting the narrative for a saga that reinvented one of the greatest characters in the franchise. The result was the creation of Lord Drakkon, who, despite having never appeared on the show, is already one of Power Rangers’ most popular villains. I’ve always wanted to see a live-action adaptation of Shattered Grid, but that would have never worked in the traditional Power Rangers show. This is why the new series at Disney+ would be the perfect way to do it.
If Power Rangers’ New Show Is Mighty Morphin, It Should Adapt Stories From The Comics
The Comics Have Vastly Expanded The Power Rangers Lore
It is unclear whether the Power Rangers show will be a reboot of Mighty Morphin or something else entirely. If the new series is a new take on the classic team, it would be a mistake not to adapt at least some of the storylines from the comics. Shattered Grid is fantastic, but it is not the only great story in BOOM! Studios’ Power Rangers universe.

The Original Power Rangers Universe Is Officially Dead After 32 Years
With a new Power Rangers show reportedly in development, the universe that began in 1993 with Mighty Morphin seems to have come to an end.
Even if the new show does not adapt stories from the comics, I would still hope for some concepts introduced in the BOOM! Studios continuity to make their way into live-action. This includes characters like Lord Drakkon and Ranger Slayer as well as fun bits of lore like Lord Zedd and Zordon being from the same planet. The comics have set a high standard for what Power Rangers can be, and hopefully, the new show will be just as good.
