Eiscue is a pure Ice-type in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that was introduced in Generation VIII. This penguin-like Pokémon protects its head from the heat by creating an ice cube. Eiscue can do this because of its signature ability, Ice Face. The Pokémon starts a battle in Ice Face form, which breaks when hit by a physical move. The ice cube nullifies the damage and Eiscue changes into Noice Face form. This Pokémon will revert to Ice Face form if a hailstorm is started, or if the monster is sent out during hail. Trainers looking to add the unique Ice-type Eiscue to their team will need to head north in the Paldea region.

Unfortunately for Scarlet players, Eiscue is exclusive to Pokémon Violet. Trainers can encounter this Pokémon near the Glaseado Mountains and the waters surrounding the area. According to the Pokédex entry, this Pokémon lives in the sea. Instead of swimming, they float about in the water, drifting on the waves in Ice Face form. Trainers will occasionally find Eiscue washed up on shore and walking around the beach.

Tips On Catching Eiscue In Pokémon Violet

Pokémon Scarlet Violet Eiscue Habitats

As shown on the map, Eiscue typically appears along the northern outer edge of the Paldea region. The best places to look are on the shore, as this can be faster than searching the ocean. They can be encountered at all times of the day. Before searching for Eiscue, there are a few preparations that can be made to make finding and catching the Pokémon easier. Trainers should use a Sandwich recipe in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to increase the spawn rate of Ice-types. Additionally, taking the proper set of Pokéballs will increase the odds of catching Eiscue. Players should use Dusk Balls at night for a 3.5x boost. Eiscue has a catch rate of 14.8%, meaning that Trainers will not need higher than a Dusk Ball. These will give about a 50% catch rate at night.

While owners of Pokémon Scarlet are unable to encounter Eiscue in their version, there are a few ways they can obtain the Pokémon. The best method is to a friend's world who has Violet. This will allow Trainers to catch version exclusive Pokémon and fill their Pokédex. Another way to obtain Eiscue is by trading with other players. While not as reliable, lucky Trainers can get the desired Pokémon from a Surprise Trade. This is completely random, but there is a small chance to obtain an Eiscue. Players should not miss out on the chance to add this unique Ice-type Pokémon to their team in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
