The Triumphant Light expansion for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket introduces several exciting new cards for players to build around. One standout is Glaceon ex—a Pokémon with a powerful ability, a strong attack, and solid HP, making it a formidable choice for any deck. With the arrival of new cards, players can take on the intense Triumphant Light SP Emblem event, offering a challenging test of skill and strategy. This requires players to battle it out in PvP matches in order to win consecutive battles, earning them valuable prizes.
When approaching this event, I knew I had to build a consistent deck in order to win the coveted Gold Emblem. This required winning five consecutive battles—a task that may sound simple but is anything but easy. Luckily enough, I pulled the mighty Glaceon ex card from the Arceus pack. From here, the best move was to build a water deck centered around the Eeveelution. It turned out to be the perfect deck for easily winning the Gold Emblem, as well as several other prizes for taking part in the event.

Why Glaceon Ex Is A Dominant Choice In Pokémon TCG Pocket
Its Snowy Terrain Ability Will Hit For Consistent Damage
Glaceon ex is one of five ex cards available with the Triumphant Light expansion, up for grabs in the Arceus pack. The eeveelution is incredibly beneficial for players to collect, as it's able to slot into any water-type deck and make an impact. Firstly, its 140 HP gives it enough durability in order to last the majority of battles, especially because it partners perfectly with Irida for healing. Though it's best attribute is its attack that gives it enough damage potential to destroy the majority of opponents.
Use the Professor’s Research er card and the Poké Ball item card to pull the required cards from your deck.
Glaceon ex’s attack Freezing Wind does a whopping 90 damage, which is substantial enough to knock out the majority of cards in the game. This costs three energy—two Water energy and one Colorless energy. Though this is not cheap, it can be set up easily and quickly with particular cards included in a deck built around it. In addition to this, its best feature is its ability Snowy Terrain. Similar to the Poison ability, this deals damage between turns: while in the Active Spot, Glaceon ex will deal 10 damage to the opponent each turn.
Best Cards For A Glaceon Ex Deck
Manaphy And Articuno Ex Are Perfect To Run Alongside Glaceon Ex
Along with Glaceon ex, I included some of the best Water-type cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Firstly, Articuno ex is included in this deck simply for its damage output. Available in the Mewtwo Pack from Genetic Apex, the card has an impressive 140 HP and two effective attacks. Ice Wing does 40 damage for two energy—one Water Energy and one Colorless energy. This can be set up extremely quickly, especially considering it is a Basic card. Its second attack, Blizzard, does 80 damage for three Water Energy, while also dealing 10 damage to each of the opponent's benched Pokémon.

"Something For Everyone" Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches New Wonder Pick Event, Pushing Three Events Simultaneously
A new Manaphy and Piplup Wonder Pick event just launched, adding more rewards to an already full slate of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket events!
The other key Pokémon in this deck is Manaphy, a card available in the Palkia Pack from the Space-Time Smackdown expansion. This Pokémon helps with the energy production of the deck, making the setup of Glaceon ex and Articuno ex much easier. Its attack, Oceanic Gift, does zero damage, but allows you to choose two of your benched Pokémon to attach a Water Energy to. This is integral for powering both Glaceon ex’s attack, Freezing Wind, and Articuno ex’s attack, Blizzard.
Best Strategy For A Glaceon Ex Deck
This Deck Is Easy To Use And Very Effective
For the best start in a competitive battle with this deck, and the best chance of winning consecutive battles for an emblem, you should place Manaphy in the Active spot. You should also place Eevee or Articuno ex on the bench to speed up the setup of their attacks. Dedicate your first energy to Manaphy in order to use Oceanic Gift. On your first turn, you should use Misty to flip coins for energy. Each heads will generate an energy for the selected Pokémon. Apex Misty does, however, rely on RNG and may not produce any energy.
You can use the Rocky Helmet tool card in order to deal 20 damage to an attacking Pokémon. This should be attached to Manaphy as soon as possible.
Your next move should be to place Glaceon ex into the Active spot once it has three energy. Manaphy only has a retreat cost of one, making this a simple move. Each turn allows you to use its ability to deal 10 damage, in addition to Glaceon ex's attack of 90 damage. If you are unlucky enough to have a failed Misty flip or fail to pull Glaceon ex, Articuno ex can be a good option to place in the Active spot.
You can also use Irida, which heals 40 damage from each of your Pokémon that has any Water Energy attached, to protect the cards that take damage. This should set you up easily to destroy the opponent in Pokémon TCG Pocket.
