A new expansion is coming to its latest full expansion, Celestial Guardians, which added creatures from Pokémon Sun and Moon to the game. Noticeably missing from that set were the Ultra Beasts, a group of interdimensional Pokémon. The popular speculation was that they were being held back for the next mini-expansion, which are typically released on a monthly basis.
Today, The Official Pokémon YouTube channel unveiled a trailer for Extradimensional Crisis, a new expansion that officially adds Ultra Beasts to the mobile card game. All Ultra Beast cards have a special Ultra Beast label, with some cards having effects that only impact Ultra Beasts. In addition to the Ultra Beasts, some of the cards confirmed to appear in the set include Tapu Koko ex, Lusamine (which interacts specifically with Ultra Beast cards) and Type: Null. The new set will be released in Pokémon TCG Pocket on May 29.
What Cards Are Confirmed For Extradimensional Crisis
In Addition To Ultra Beasts, Tapu Koko Ex And Lusamine Are Also Confirmed
It appears that all of the Ultra Beasts are coming to Extradimensional Crisis, with several receiving Pokémon ex cards. So far, Buzzwole ex and Guzzlord ex are both confirmed for the set, with Celesteela, Pheromosa, Blacephalon, and Nihilego all confirmed as normal Pokémon cards so far. Type: Null (a lesser Legendary Pokémon that evolves into Silvally) is also confirmed for the new set, as are new versions of Rowlet and Tapu Koko ex. Interestingly, all the Ultra Beasts have attacks with names inspired by various music types.

Pokémon TCG Pocket's Biggest Stall Pokémon Was Just Replaced By An Unlikely Source
A staple in most Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket decks could be replaced by a more powerful option that appears in the Celestial Guardians set.
The only Trainer card confirmed for the new set so far is Lusamine, who actually has an ability that hearkens back to the Ultra Beast's original TCG mechanic. Lusamine can only be played after an opponent has at least one point. Players can take two random energy from their discard pile and attach them to any Ultra Beast. Originally, Ultra Beasts had mechanics that manipulated prizes in some way. While this isn't the same as those Ultra Beast effects, it is a nice tie-back to how Ultra Beasts originally worked in the Pokémon TCG.
Our Take: Ultra Beasts Could Shake Up The Metagame
Several Cards Should Make An Immediate Impact
The Ultra Beasts look to be incredibly powerful in Pokémon TCG Pocket and could make a real splash when they are released next week. Guzzlord ex in particular looks to be a beast, with 170 HP as a Basic Pokémon and an attack that mimics the Team Rocket Grunt's Energy draining ability. This new set could shake up how players approach the game, and we know that the game isn't afraid to disrupt the metagame with new releases. We'll have to see how this full set plays out, but we are incredibly excited for Extradimensional Crisis and can't wait to start cracking open digital packs.
