Lost Origin is the latest sets. The Lost Origin expansion has finally hit stores in September and features one of the TCG's biggest setlists in years. However, a handful of cards in the set are incredibly rare and are worth a lot of money.
With the announcement that Gen 9 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be launching this Fall, The Pokémon Company confirmed that the Sword and Shield TCG series will also be coming to an end in November. Despite being its final year, the Nintendo tabletop game hasn't slowed down and has already released two major sets Brilliant Stars and Astral Radiance. After months of anticipation, the Lost Origin expansion finally launched on September 9 and brought back the "Lost Zone" mechanic which originally debuted in the 2009's Pokémon Platinum.
Players looking to jump into the Pokémon Lost Origin TCG expansion will have a lot to collect, as it features a staggering 247 cards. The September set also features many hidden rare collectibles as well, such as VSTAR, Radiant Pokémon, and Trainer Gallery cards. Below is a list of the cards that are currently worth the most money in the Pokémon TCG Lost Origin expansion.
Pokémon TCG Lost Origin Zoroark VSTAR Gold Secret Rare Card
Fans were first introduced to Zoroark in the Gen 5 Pokémon Black and White games in 2011. The mischievous fox can disguise itself as other Pokémon by using illusions. The popular Unova Dark-type was recently given new life after being reborn as a Ghost-type as one of Pokémon Legends: Arceus' Hisuian forms.
In the Pokémon Lost Origin expansion, the secret rare gold Hisuian Zoroark VSTAR card is quickly becoming one of the set's most sought-after cards. The golden holographic TCG collectible is already selling for around $20 ungraded on online auction sites. Given the Pokémon's recent revival in popularity, graded copies of the Lost Origin Hisuian Zoroark card have the potential to climb up in value in the future.
Lost Origin Pikachu V Trainer Gallery Card
Ever since its debut in the Pokémon Sun and Moon series, Trainer Gallery cards have become one of the Pokémon TCG's most popular collectibles. Fans can't seem to get enough of the unique Pokémon card-type, which features the artwork of Pokémon next to their trainers. The popular variant saw a resurgence in Gen 8, after being brought back in the Pokémon Brilliant Stars TCG expansion that was released in February.
One of Lost Origin's best Trainer Gallery collectibles is the Pikachu V card. It not only has a stunning alternate-art design by veteran TCG artist Ryota Murayama, but it also features iconic Kanto region protagonist Red and his lovable partner Pokémon Pikachu. The adorable collectible has already been selling for $30 on average and has even sold for as high as $60. Graded variants of this card are likely to explode in value, given the card's classic artwork.
Lost Origin TCG Galarian Perrserker V Alternate Art Card
For many kids getting into the Pokémon franchise in the 90s, Meowth was one of the Kanto region's most recognizable monsters. The money-obsessed cat became a staple in the Pokémon anime as a member of the mischievous antagonist group Team Rocket. Decades after its debut, Meowth was given a brand new look as one of Pokémon Sword and Shield's Galarian form Pokémon. The Gen 1 favorite even got a new evolution, as Galarian Meowth evolves into a Perrserker.
The new Pokémon Sword and Shield evolution is also featured as a rare card in the Lost Origin TCG set and is one of the expansion's most profitable collectibles. On online auction sites, the Galarian Perrserker V card regularly fetches around $30, but has also sold for as high as $44. Because it's one of the Gen 8 sets few alternate-artwork collectibles, Perrserker is going to continue to be one of Lost Origin's most sought-after pieces.
Pokémon TCG Lost Origin Giratina Gold Secret Rare Card
Despite making its appearance over fifteen years ago in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Giratina has continued to be one of the series' most popular Legendary Pokémon. The Pokémon Platinum box mascot has seen a major revival in popularity in recent years, after being featured in both Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and the 2021 Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Gen 5 remakes.
The Creation Trio Legendary makes its return as the mascot of the Lost Origin TCG expansion and is also one of the set's most valuable cards. The secret rare gold Giratina VSTAR card has been fetching $38 online and has even sold as high as $50. Given the massive popularity of the Sinnoh region, the golden collectible is going to be one of Lost Origin's most valuable cards over time.
Pokémon Lost Origin Pikachu VMAX Trainer Gallery Card
When the Pokémon Sword and Shield TCG series launched in 2020, the Nintendo Tabletop game introduced the new VMAX card mechanic. Similar to the Galar region RPGs, the new variant features popular Pokémon transformed into giant forms with boosted powers.
The Pikachu VMAX card from the Lost Origin set has become a hit with collectors, because of its iconic alternate artwork that depicts the protagonist from the Gen 1 Pokémon Red and Blue RPGs Gigantamaxing his Pikachu. The detailed collectible has been fetching $45 on average and has even sold as high as $65.
Lost Origin Rotom V Alternate Art TCG Pokémon Card
Another beloved Sinnoh Pokémon making a splash in the Lost Origin TCG expansion is the popular Gen 4 Ghost-type Rotom. In Diamond and Pearl, the rare Pokémon is able to take on the form of various appliances such as a lawnmower and washing machine. The Ghost-type's unique shape-shifting mechanic was even introduced into the TCG as a card variant in the Pokémon Platinum Rising Rivals expansion from 2009.
In the Lost Origin TCG expansion, players can collect a gorgeous full artwork card that portrays the Sinnoh Ghost-type getting ready to change into one of its five forms. The Rotom V alternate-art card has been selling on average for $60 and has even been fetching $75 on online auction sites.
Pokémon TCG Lost Origin Aerodactyl V Alternate Art Card
When Pokémon Red and Blue launched in 1998, Gen 1 Kanto Fossil Pokémon such as Omastar and Kabutops were fan favorites. The ancient Pokémon were so popular, that they even became the mascots of the TCG's second expansion which was aptly called Fossil. For many players, the Jurassic-themed Pokémon are incredibly nostalgic.
So it should come as little surprise, that one of Lost Origin's most sought-after collectibles is the rare Aerodactyl V card. The alternate-art collectible has already exploded in value and has been selling for as high as $170 on online auction sites. Because the Gen 1 Fossil Pokémon is so popular, the sky's the limit for how much a graded version of this card could for in the future.
Pokémon TCG Lost Origin Giratina V Alternate Art Card
The most valuable collectible from the Pokémon Lost Origin TCG expansion is the Giratina V card. The alternate-art Pokémon card features the stunning artwork of the Sinnoh Legendary floating through space dimensions. After the set was originally revealed back in July, the Giratina card was predicted to be the most valuable, and it hasn't disappointed.
Just days after the expansion's release, the Giratina V has sold for as high as $220. Graded variants of the Lost Origin secret rare card will likely continue to jump in price. In the Pokémon Evolving Skies TCG expansion, a similar Rayquaza card reached upwards of $550 in value. Those looking to make the most money out of the eleventh Sword and Shield Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion will want to try to hunt down the Diamond and Pearl Legendary.
