Pokémon Scarlet and Violet closed its incredible story with 6 major boss battles, including the final champion battle that's featured in nearly every mainline Pokémon game. However, between Champion Geeta, Clavell, Penny, Nemona, Arven, and the professor, Geeta may have the weakest Pokémon team of the six. It feels disappointing for a champion to be the least memorable part of Scarlet & Violet's epic endgame, but Geeta falls short in both difficulty and plot buildup to the other five major bosses.

Geeta is considered one of the most disappointing champions in the franchise for a variety of reasons, but her actual team may be the most-discussed failure. It would have been nice for Geeta to have been a bigger part of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's story, but champions are usually a boss battle first and a story component second. Every champion can ittedly be easily defeated by an over-leveled team, but Geeta fails to be a challenging boss battle even against teams of the same level. However, much of Geeta's problems can be rectified by one very simple change.

Champion Geeta's Team Order Is All Wrong In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Geeta's team could be made vastly more challenging if she just sent out her Glimmora first and saved her Kingambit for last. Her signature Pokémon, Glimmora, is the final evolution of Glimmet, evolving at level 35. Its 130 special attack certainly makes it a threat, but Glimmora was never meant to be the anchor for a team. In fact, Glimmora's signature ability, Toxic Debris, is completely useless when it's the last Pokémon in the party. By leading with Glimmora in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Geeta could have had a threatening start to the fight that would leave behind Toxic Spikes to poison any new Pokémon the player wants to send in.

Meanwhile, Geeta also completely misuses one of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's best Steel-type Pokémon: Kingambit. Bisharp's evolution is a very powerful Pokémon to begin with, but it can't reach its full potential without the help of its signature ability: Supreme Overlord. For each Pokémon in the party that's been defeated, Kingambit gets an extra boost to its Attack stat. Being the final Pokémon on Geeta's team in Scarlet and Violet would give Kingambit the full boost to make it a threat on the level of Cynthia's iconic Garchomp or Steven's Metagross.

The main flaw with Kingambit's potential as a final bastion for Geeta's Pokémon team in Scarlet and Violet is its quadruple weakness to Fighting-type moves combined with a poor speed stat. However, being the final Pokémon would give it access to Terastalization. Were Kingambit to Terastalize into a mono Steel- or Dark-type, its natural bulk would be able to resist the majority of regular Super Effective hits. A Terastilized Kingambit would make Geeta worthy of the final boss title and would properly show off one of Scarlet & Violet's best Pokémon.

Geeta's Design Still Doesn't Justify Her Pokémon Team In Scarlet & Violet

Some have argued that Geeta's design being reminiscent of Glimmora makes it mandatory for the Pokémon to be her ace. However, the aesthetics of Geeta and Glimmora are almost more apparent if she leads with the Pokémon. Glimmora would set the tone for Scarlet & Violet's champion in of gameplay and looks, while Kingambit would feel like the final trial to take out one of Paldea's strongest trainers.

Some people may argue that it's fine to save Glimmora for last and have it be Geeta's signature Pokémon, especially in a game where Geeta isn't even the real final boss. However, she's still the Champion of Paldea. It's fine to have mediocre enemy team battles or easy Gym Leaders in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but a champion should still feel like a champion.
