Once players go through the main narrative of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, one of the many tasks they can accomplish involve the rare Legendary Pokémon that remain in the Paldea Region, including the Grass-and Dark-type Wo-Chien. This Pokémon resembles a snail mixed with the mysteries of nature, and is among the four Legendary Pokémon tied to shrines throughout the open-world.

Players that want to capture this rare beast have several tasks they must accomplish first through the exploration of Paldea, in addition to having a team of pocket monsters that can contend with Wo-Chien's above average power and higher level. In order to unlock the shrine of Wo-Chien and challenge the Legendary Pokémon, players must first interact with each of the eight purple Ominous Stakes, most of which are located in the South Province with one in the East Province.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Purple Door Sealed to Hide Legendary Pokemon Wo-Chien

These Ominous Stakes are only found once players defeat the main narrative, designated by colors that correspond to a specific Ruinous Pokémon. Interacting with the Stakes in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's South Province and breaking their seals in no particular order moves players another step closer to revealing the Grasswhistle Shrine where Wo-Chien resides.

Battling Wo-Chien can be difficult for unprepared players, as the Pokémon appears at level 60 with highly damaging moves that complement its dual typing. Players that bring in Pokémon of the Fire, Fighting, or especially the Bug-type such as Lokix in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have a higher advantage against the Legendary. Reducing Wo-Chien's health and applying status also increases the capture chances for players that have spent the time needed to find this rare creature in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
