Pokémon Legends: Arceus is about to be outshined by the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and still has a ton of loose ends that could be tied up with a DLC, but time is running out. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is slated to release on November 18, 2022, less than one year after the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Many fans were hoping for a DLC for Legends: Arceus, but with only a few months left until a new game releases, it may be too little too late.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus was a revolutionary Pokémon game that introduced players to a completely new way to hunt and catch Pokémon. Legends: Arceus provided players with a semi-open world to explore while observing Pokémon in their natural habitat. While the main story of the game was wrapped up, there were many plot threads left hanging in Legends: Arceus that could easily be resolved with the addition of a DLC.
While a DLC to Pokémon Legends: Arceus would be welcome by many Pokémon fans, at this point, fans probably should not get their hopes up. Given how much time has ed since the release of Legends: Arceus and how soon the next iteration of the Pokémon series releases, a DLC, especially before November, is unlikely. The focus of both fans and developers is on the new Pokémon game.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus DLC Is Unlikely - At Least For Now
Pokémon Sword and Shield had two DLCs, both released within a year of the initial game release; both expansions were announced less than two months after the game's release. Pokémon Legends: Arceus has been out for approximately seven months now with no news of a DLC and only a small update, Legends: Arceus Daybreak, provided on March 18. In February 2022, just one month after the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet was announced. It is reasonable to believe that Game Freak developers shifted their focus from Legends: Arceus to the new game in order to meet their 2022 release date goal.
This does not mean that there will never be a DLC to Pokémon Legends: Arceus. As many fans know, Legends: Arceus left players with a lot of unanswered questions, including whether or not the main character ever ended up back in their timeline, how the Hisuian (Sinnoh) region ends up being developed, and more. A DLC could easily answer these questions; however, a Pokémon Legends: Arceus sequel could answer questions as well. Whether this happens depends upon how much Game Freak is willing to bring its focus back to Legends: Arceus after the release of Scarlet and Violet.
Fans of Pokémon Legends: Arceus should not get their hopes up for a DLC any time soon. Game Freak and Nintendo seem to be focusing their efforts on the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in November 2022 and many fans are more focused on that as well. Whether or not players will ever see a DLC for Legends: Arceus is an open question, and it may be that players and the developers alike will lose interest in the Pokémon Legends: Arceus story with the introduction of a new game and a whole new Pokémon region to explore.
