According to recent datamined information, the two most popular of Team Rocket, Jessie and James, are coming to Pokémon Go players earn PokéCoins, the title's in-game currency which is currently only given to players after they defend gyms.
Team Rocket has stood as the main antagonist of Pokémon players throughout the majority of the franchise's entries, and two (technically three, counting Meowth) of the group's , Jessie and James, found great popularity in the tie-in Pokémon anime television show. Despite their clumsy attempts at maliciousness and frequent miscalculations, Jessie, James, and Meowth acted as the driving force behind many of the Pokémon animated show's plot events, and if recent datamined information is to be believed then it looks like these two popular antagonists will be arriving in Pokémon Go soon.
According to a Reddit post by a who goes by the forum handle u/martycochrane, datamined information from a new Pokémon Go APK has revealed that both Jessie and James are coming to the game, and players will likely be able to battle them. According to the leaks, both of Team Rocket are listed in Pokémon Go "as an NPC just like the grunts and leaders, so we'll most likely be battling them." As detailed in the above notes, there are all kinds of new Pokémon making their way to Pokémon Go as well, including multiple variations of Perrserker, Obstagoon, and Sirfetchd, along with Galarian versions of Meowth, Farfetchd, Darumaka, and others. This update to Pokémon Go is also introducing a Friend Filtering ststem, as well as improvements which will reportedly allow players "to see when your friends are online or not."
It's unclear exactly how much of a role Jessie and James will have in Pokémon Go, and if they will begin trying some of their old tricks again, but longtime fans and viewers of the Pokémon anime will likely be happy at their inclusion. Hopefully, players will be able to battle (and defeat) Jessie, James, and Meowth yet again soon in Pokémon Go, and thanks to this recent datamine players will be prepared for any other surprises Niantic (and Team Rocket) may have in store for them.
