Max Mondays are back in May 2025 for Pokémon GO, giving players a chance to defeat and capture Gigantamax Pokémon throughout the month. Each week, there will be a small window where you and your friends can challenge a Max Monday boss, catch it, and have a powerful giant Pokémon in your collection. The schedule for May 2025 is set, allowing you to prepare for each Dynamax Pokémon every week.

The first Max Monday battle of the month will appear halfway through the Growing Up event in Pokémon GO, specifically on May 7, 2025. The last Max Monday of May 2025 will occur on May 26, 2025, giving you a timeframe to participate in each event. The final Max Monday will feature a new Pokémon debuting in the game, making it one battle you don't want to miss.

Face Four Unique Pokémon In Dynamax Forms

Four Max Monday battles occur throughout the month, with each offering a new Dynamax Pokémon to encounter. Defeating a Dynamax Pokémon will unlock a special encounter with it, allowing you to catch it after a victory. Each Dynamax Pokémon for May 2025 has a chance to be Shiny in Pokémon GO, so you may want to battle the one featured each week multiple times to find a rare variant.

Each Dynamax Pokémon will appear at Power Spots that spawn around your map in greater numbers during the Max Monday window. Max Mondays last from 6PM to 7PM local time every week, giving you a very short time to battle featured Pokémon. Max Battles require you to use at least one Dynamax Pokémon yourself, so ensure you have everything prepared before going into a Max Monday.

Every Max Monday battle must be challenged by at least four different trainers. Every trainer participating in a Max Monday must have one Dynamax Pokémon of their own to start the battle.

How Do Max Mondays Work?

Build Up Max Particles And Max Meter To Fight

To participate in a Max Monday battle, you have to accumulate enough Max Particles to challenge any of the Max bosses at a Power Spot. During a Max Monday, Power Spots show up far more often and only feature one boss scheduled to show up in greater numbers that day. Once you have the Max Particles to visit a Power Spot, you can bring up to three Dynamax Pokémon to challenge a Max Boss.

Some of the easiest ways to get Dynamax Pokémon for a Max Monday include completing Special Research, evolving Pokémon from past Max Mondays, or participating in other Max Battles scheduled in May 2025.

Max Monday battles are much tougher than your typical Raid battles in Pokémon GO, as you are only able to use moves based on your Dynamax Pokémon's type. As you battle a Max Monday boss, your Pokémon builds a unique resource called the Max Meter by landing attacks. When this meter is full, you can unleash different moves, including:

• Max Attack - A powerful strike based on the typing of your current Dynamax Pokémon. When this move is super-effective, it does an extremely high amount of damage.
• Max Guard - A potent defensive move that spends Max Meter to reduce incoming damage from a Max Boss.
• Max Spirit - A ive technique that spends Max Meter to heal your Dynamax Pokémon or the Pokémon of your allies during a Max Monday battle.

By using your Max Meter wisely and exploiting weaknesses, you can take down a Max Monday boss relatively quickly. Defeating a Max Monday boss will allow you to catch it, but catching it multiple times while a Max Monday is still going on allows you to empower or even evolve it. By beating the bosses in May 2025's Max Monday schedule enough times in Pokémon GO, you'll have powerful Pokémon for other Max Battles.
