Ditto is one of the most unique Pokémon across the series and this is still the case in best teams for the Great League, it is a Pokémon that you will want to try to capture.

All the other Pokémon in the game appear on the map on Pokémon GO. You can then click on them, and an encounter will start, offering you the chance to add them to your collection. However, Ditto will never appear on the map, instead disguising itself as one of a number of Pokémon. Only when you click on it will its true form be revealed. There is a set list of Pokémon that Ditto can disguise itself as, which updates regularly. Here are the current Pokémon that Ditto can disguise itself as.

All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon Go (May 2025)

Another Month With The Same Disguises

For another month in Pokémon GO, Ditto disguises remain unchanged. The same 11 Pokémon that it disguised as in April 2025 are still the key Pokémon that you need to look out for. If you try to encounter one of these in the wild, and it is a Ditto, you will receive the on-screen text 'Oh' followed by an animation of it changing into its known form. For May 2025, Ditto can disguise itself as 11 different Pokémon:

  • Oddish (Gen 1)
  • Goldeen (Gen 1)
  • Rhyhorn (Gen 1)
  • Koffing (Gen 1)
  • Spinarak (Gen 2)
  • Numel (Gen 3)
  • Bidoof (Gen 4)
  • Solosis (Gen 5)
  • Gothita (Gen 5)
  • Bergmite (Gen 6)
  • Stufful (Gen 7)

Included in the list are four Generation 1 favorites, including the very common spawning Oddish and Koffing. Many of the above Pokémon only now appear during set times, or during certain events, so if you do see one, you should always attempt to capture it. Ditto has a lower catch rate than the Pokémon it disguises itself as, so if you are struggling to catch one of them, you should use berries to secure the catch, as it is likely to transform.

Dynamax Falinks is one of the harder regular Max Battles on offer, making it vital you use Psychic-, Flying-, or Fairy-type attacks in Pokémon GO.

If you do come across a Ditto, you also have the chance to catch it in its shiny form. Each encounter with Ditto only has a 1 in 64 chance of being in its Blue Shiny form, so you will likely have to hunt it down even more frequently if you wish to capture one. Also running at the start of May 2025 in Pokemon GO is the Sweet Discoveries event.

How To Increase The Chances Of Finding Ditto

Items Key For More Spawns

While there is no guaranteed way to find a Ditto, there are several ways you can increase your chances of finding one. The best way to do this is to increase the overall number of spawning Pokémon that you can encounter, thus giving you potential chances of finding a Ditto. One of the best ways to do this is by using Incense items. Incense increases the number of Pokémon that spawn near your location for a set time, usually 30 or 60 minutes. This can be increased further during specific events. This will most often spawn the more common Pokémon, but that does include several of the potential Ditto disguises.

Using items is the only way to increase your chances of finding a Ditto in Pokémon GO.

Similar to Incense, Lures increase the number of Pokémon nearby to a set location. They can only be placed on PokeStops, but increase the number of Pokémon that spawn near it, for all players, not just the one who has dropped the Lure. There are several different types of Lures, including some that increase the spawns of certain types of Pokémon. Another option is the Daily Incense. While these can only be used once per day and only last for 15 minutes, they also increase the number of Pokémon that spawn in a nearby location.

The biggest thing you can do to increase the chance of you finding a Ditto this month is by simply clicking on more Pokémon to encounter one of the possible disguises. Using items, such as Incense and Lures, is key to finding Ditto in one of its disguises in May 2025 in Pokémon GO.
