At the beginning of March, Pokémon released a Pokémon Center exclusive Funko Pop of Pikachu that quickly sold out. Fans who missed the opportunity to purchase one can rest assured this will not be the end of the Pokémon Company and Funko's most recent collaboration; at least five more Pokémon Center exclusive Funko Pops have been teased. But a month following the release of Pikachu, no names or dates have been given for which Pokémon will be coming to the Pokémon Center next, leaving fans wondering which pocket monsters they will see in Funko Pop form.
Imaginations will naturally gravitate toward popular Pokémon like Eevee and Charizard; after all, they already have some of the more popular Pokémon Funko Pops out there. Just like Pikachu - who also already had several Funko Pops before its exclusive one released - these pocket monsters could receive new stances and the special pearlescent finish that appears to be the signature touch of this Pokémon-Funko event. That said, the Pokémon Company could take this opportunity to share some love with lesser known Pokémon who could receive their first ever Funko Pops. But with so little information about which are coming next, it's impossible to tell what the company will do.
The Pokémon Center Revealed The Types Of The Next Funko Pops
After the exclusive pearlescent Pikachus sold out, the Pikachu's Pokémon Center Funko Pop, but it can help fans guide their expectations for the five potential pocket monsters receiving Funko Pops.
Gen 8 & 9 Pokémon Deserve Funko Pops
Earlier Pokémon generations have already received their fair share of Funko Pops. Pocket monsters from Pokémon Sword and Shield and Scarlet and Violet thus deserve their chance to shine in this collection of Pokémon Center Exclusive Funko Pops. Since Scorbunny already has its own Funko Pop, it would make sense for the Gen 9 starters Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly to receive their own. After all, with the Eeveelutions, Funko has already figured out how to make four-legged Pops, so Sprigatito would be an exciting pick for fans of Scarlet and Violet.
For the Normal- and Poison-types, the Pokémon Company has a lot more room to be creative. Maushold from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet could be a special Normal-type option as a Funko Pop, as Funko could connect each of the four mice in Maushold at the hands; plus, Maushold's eyes already match the Funko design, so they would be excellent as Pops. For the Poison-type, Toxtricity could be an interesting option. Not only does Toxtricity's humanoid physique match the typical Funko Pop design, but its Amped and Low Key forms could pave the way for there to be two versions of the Funko Pop.
Only time will tell which direction Pokémon will end up going with its Funko Pops. Ideally, the company will choose popular Pokémon fans love that have never received a Funko Pop before, like the Gen 9 starters. But with only one Grass, Fire, Water, Poison, and Normal Pokémon left for the remaining Pokémon Center exclusive Funko Pops, Pokémon will have to be careful and selective when choosing the next pocket monsters in the series.
