Every PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, & Game Available April 2024
Sony has announced the latest batch of games coming to PlayStation Plus in April. Here's the official lineup and what it has to offer.
Some Of The Final Fantasy Titles Leaving Are Considered The Best In The Series
The Final Fantasy 7 Remaster Is Also Surprising With The Success Of The Remakes
While many of these are predominantly indie titles, there are several Final Fantasy titles, which is surprising considering how many players associate the long-running series with Sony's consoles with recent releases such as Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth being exclusive to the platform at launch. Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX are also widely considered two of the best games in the Final Fantasy series by both fans and critics, making their removal come as quite a blow to the PS Plus subscribers.
The version of Final Fantasy VII being removed is not the same as the recent remakes but is the 2015 remaster of the classic PlayStation title. However, with Remake and Rebirth making changes to the story, it was still nice for players to easily have the option to go back and play the original on modern consoles should they choose.
Of course, these titles aren't being completely removed from digital storefronts, so those who wish to play them can still purchase them from the PlayStation Store. PlayStation hasn't announced which titles will be added to PlayStation Plus Extra and following this mass removal, but considering the popularity of the Final Fantasy titles being removed, hopefully, there will be something substantial to make up for it.
