It's a big day for Sonic Central digital showcase unveiling a few notable pieces of news.

One such reveal came in the form of Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 - The Official Video Game, an Olympics-branded sports title in which players can adorn their Olympian with a Sonic-inspired look. The stream also unleashed a June 2021 launch date for the experience, in addition to offering a glimpse at the Sonic Colors remaster, Sonic Colors: Ultimate. Sega noted the remastered platformer will hit stores for all current-gen consoles in September, allowing a new audience to get its hands on what was previously a Wii and Nintendo DS exclusive.

Three different Sonic games are scheduled to the PlayStation Now lineup on Tuesday, June 1 - Sonic Forces, Sonic Mania, and Team Sonic Racing. Sega revealed as much during its aforementioned Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube broadcast. In other game streaming-related news, the publisher confirmed that both Sonic Mania and Team Sonic Racing are currently available to play via Amazon Luna.

PlayStation Now

These seem promising additions to PS Now's growing catalogue of games, as each one offers something different than the others. Created to commemorate the brand's 25th anniversary in 2016, Sonic Forces is a platformer that places Sonic in a resistance group established to combat Doctor Eggman. Sonic Mania, launched in 2017, counts as yet another platformer, though it specifically pays homage to the classic Sonic adventures with 2D side-scrolling gameplay. Meanwhile, the Sumo Digital-developed Team Sonic Racing drops the blue hedgehog and friends into the world of cooperative kart racing.

As of writing, Sony has yet to announce PlayStation Now's full lineup of June 2021 additions. Although, yesterday's announcement of the PS Plus freebies did disclose that Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will come to PS Now on June 1. In addition to the fighting title, PS Plus subscribers can expect to receive two other interesting experiences - Star Wars: Squadrons and Operation: Tango, the latter of which is a new release that only PS Plus on PS5 can play at no extra cost.
