Margot Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean 6 reboot, with Bruckheimer producing both.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bruckheimer provided a promidate on Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and also the separate reboot he's involved with. Though the producer hopes that both movies get made, he says that Disney "really wants to make the Margot one." See Bruckheimer's full comment below:

It's two different movies. We hope to get 'em both made, and I think Disney agrees they really want to make the Margot one, too.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean Franchise Future Explained

After much uncertainty in recent years, Bruckheimer's latest update offers a clear plan for the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. First off, Robbie's film appears to be the priority, even after the actress made comments indicating it had been canceled. The film is from Robbie's production company, LuckyChap, with a script from Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson. However, the ship appeared to be sunk in November 2022 when Robbie made comments indicating her Pirates of the Caribbean movie had been canceled by Disney, saying "I guess they don’t want to do it."

It's Been 4 Years, Is Margot Robbie's Pirates Of The Caribbean Movie Still Happening?

4 years after Margot Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff was announced, the status of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 is less clear than ever.

Ever since Robbie made those comments, Bruckheimer has tried to dispel the notion that Disney doesn't want to make Robbie's Pirates of the Caribbean movie. In December 2022, Bruckheimer said that Robbie's movie was still in development, but is on the backburner as they prioritize the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot. However, after the billion-dollar success of the Barbie movie, it sounds like Disney now wants to fast-track Robbie's movie instead, based on Bruckheimer's latest update.

As for the other Pirates reboot, when it was originally reported, franchise veteran Ted Elliott and The Last of Us creator Craig Mazin were writing the script. However, the latest update reveals that Dead Men Tell No Tales scribe Jeff Nathanson is now writing the script and Bruckheimer says, "I think he's cracked it. He's got an amazing third act. We just gotta clean up the first and second and then we'll get there." Due to the conflicting reports over the years, it remains to be seen which Pirates of the Caribbean movie gets made first.
